...Title
Tree Planting Ceremony on the occasion of the Angora Fire Anniversary.
Body

June 24, 2008 marks the one-year anniversary of the Angora fire, which raced through pristine, wooded neighborhoods devouring 3100 acres and destroying 254 homes.

Stan Freeman, owner of one of those homes, at 607 Pyramid Circle, quickly picked up and brushed off, after his home was burned to the ground.  Because El Dorado County coordinated a comprehensive debris and tree removal program with the state, waived building fees, and expedited building and planning services, Mr. Freeman was able to reconstruct his home a little more than 9 months after the fire.  His tenacity has been an inspriation to others, and the completion of his home is a symbolic rejuvenation of his neighborhood and community.

The planting of a tree in the yard of Stan Freeman's newly constructed home is a statement of completion and new beginings.

The El Dorado County Board of Supervisors joins Angora Fire survivors and public safety officials in honoring a monumental achievement at 607 Pyramid Court, as a symbol of lives, neighborhoods and our community being reconstructed throughout the Angora burn area.
