Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: N/A. The Proposed FY 2008-09 Budget included an add/delete consisting of the addition of two Deputy Agricultural Commissioners, Sealer of Weights and Measures and the deletion of two Ag Biologist/Standards Inspectors. This add/delete results in an approximate increase of $10,500 in salaries and benefits. This increase in cost is being offset with savings of approximately $165,000 from the deletion of the Assistant Agricultural Commissioner, Sealer of Weights and Measures. These changes will result in long term sustainable savings within the department and add increased supervisory capacity . These savings were included in the FY 2008-09 proposed budget.
Background: Supervisory oversight has previously been provided by an Assistant Agricultural Commissioner, Sealer of Weights and Measures. The allocation of Assistant Agricultural Commissioner, Sealer of Weights and Measures has been deleted from the Agricultural Department's position allocation. The position of Deputy Agricultural Commissioner, Sealer of Weights and Measures is designed to provide first level supervisory oversight within the Agricultural Department.
