Reason for Recommendation: The Elder Abuse program is an integral component to providing services to the elderly population in El Dorado County. The District Attorney's Office has been receiving funding from the Office of Emergency Services since fiscal year 2003/2004. This funding is appropriated for 80% of the program costs along with a 20% cash match from the county. Based upon 2007 figures those residents over age 60 account for just under one quarter of the counties population. The funding received allows staff to continue to identify, educate, promote and assist victims of crime within the elderly popluation.
Action to be taken following Board approval: Request for Application packet to be returned to District Attorney's office for submission to Governor's Office of Emergency Services (OES).
