Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:    The difference between final and estimated budget amount will be addressed at the time of budget addenda.

Background:    This item was budgeted prior to receipt of the new maintenance agreement, and will be addressed at the time of budget addenda.  The Lightcycler 1.2 is used by the Public Health Laboratory to test specimens for a variety of viral and bacterial infections.   Review of the agreement by County Counsel determined that the vendor is located out-of-state (Indiana) which subjects the agreement to the Indiana state laws and has advised the Department that Board approval of this agreement is required.

Reason for Recommendation:     Maintenance of the Lightcycler 1.2 is essential to the laboratory testing processes for viral and bacterial infections.

Action to be taken following Board approval:
1.  Purchasing Agent to sign Service Agreement with Roche Diagnostics Corporation.
2.  Department to process fully executed Agreement as appropriate.
