Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: None
The County will receive monthly revenue in the amount of $820.00 per month and associated fuel sales. The fuel sales may increase as a result of the Calstar presence at the airport. The budget appropriation for fuel and offsetting fuel sale revenue will be included in the addenda as well as the addition of the monthly rental revenue. There is no cost to the County General Fund associated with this agenda item.

Background:
Calstar approached airport management in late June of 2008 to request the launch of weekend operations for a helicopter rescue service. After negotiations, an agreement has been reached to start operations from the Placerville Airport. The airport will be using a License Agreement for a period of no more than one year until negotiations of improvements can be completed to operate on a permanent basis.

Reason for Recommendation:
Calstar will provide to the citizens of El Dorado County a valuable service and shorter response time when a trauma rescue is requested. Calstar will also provide the airport with much needed revenue and activity to help maintain and enhance its operations.
