Marshall Medical Center reimburses the County for the cost of 1.0 Eligibility Worker up to a maximum of $71,410 per fiscal year during the three-year term of the Agreement. Revenues and appropriations to cover the cost of the worker are budgeted for FY 2008-09 and will be budgeted for FY 2009-10 and FY 2010-11.

Reason for Recommendation:
Agreement #094-S0911 enables Human Services to continue to provide Marshall Medical Center with one out-stationed Eligibility Worker (EW) to determine eligibility and process applications for patients in their facility for Medi-Cal or County Medical Services Program (CMSP) services and delineates the responsibilities of each party. By law, only a county welfare department (DHS-Social Service Division) may employ an EW to determine a person’s eligibility for Medi-Cal and CMSP. This collaborative effort benefits Marshall Medical Center patients by facilitating their receipt of appropriate services at a time when they may not be able to access services without assistance.
