There is no Fiscal Impact associated with this requested Board action. There is no Net County Cost.

Background:
On October 31, 2006 the Board approved Agreement for Services # AGMT 06-1019 with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) for a two-year term and a not-to-exceed compensation amount of $290,000 for traffic control and traffic enforcement services, based on proper advance notification, during construction phases of various Capital Improvement Program (CIP) construction projects within and in the vicinity of El Dorado County.

Reason for Recommendation:
The Transportation Department (Department) is proposing to amend its existing Agreement with the CHP to extend the expiration date of the Agreement to June 30, 2009; to include the CHP’s most current rates; and, to allow for future rate increases by written notification. There is no change in the not-to-exceed compensation amount of the Agreement.

The Department is requesting approval of the subject Amendment while the Department is in the process of negotiating a new Agreement for traffic control and traffic enforcement services with the CHP, in the amount of $500,000, with a term starting July 1, 2009 and continuing through June 30, 2012.
