Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: The petroleum storage tank is valued by the Eldorado National Forest at $14,814 and will be donated to the County. Moving and installation costs estimated at $3,016 and funded by the Road Fund is primarily staff cost.

Reason for Recommendation: The Department of Transportation uses emulsion in its durapatching operation. The material is stored at the Missouri Flat Road Storage Facility in a tank provided by the emulsion supplier as a part of the competitive bid for the material. Competition is limited by the requirement to supply a tank. The Department hopes to obtain a more competitive price for emulsion by eliminating the requirement to supply a tank from the bid and increasing the number of bidders willing to participate.

The Department of Transportation will be removing the tank from the the Camino Work Center on Carson Road in Placerville and moving it to the storage yard on Missouri Flat Road. A Memorandum of Understanding outlining the responsibilities of each party in removing the tank from its current location is also included here for your approval.
