Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: A budget was not established during the FY 2008-09 budget process for this purpose. The District Attorney's office has sufficient funding in their Asset Forfeiture Account to accomodate a budget for the described purpose.
Background: The Drug Store Project is a middle school drug prevention program through the Lake Tahoe Unified School District designed to educate youth about the dangers of substance use and abuse. This program is partially funded through the use of asset forfeiture funds.
Reason for Recommendation: The District Attorney's office is recommending approval to establish a budget in a special revenue account for the purpose of providing funding to the Lake Tahoe Unified School District towards their 2008 Drug Store Project budget.
Action to be taken following Board approval:
1. Auditor's Office will process budget transfer.
2. Auditor's Office will issee a check to the Lake Tahoe Unified School District for $2500.00.
