Title
Health Services Department recommending Chairman be authorized to sign retroactive Amendment I to Agreement 780-PHD0608 with Marshall Medical Center amending the compensation and extending the term through December 31, 2009 to provide necessary services to assist Marshall Medical Center in meeting the objectives and scope of work of the grant.

FUNDING:  Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ)
Body
Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:    None.   Incoming funding through Marshall Medical Center.

Background:    Effective May 23, 2006, the Board of Supervisors approved Agreement 780-PHD0608 with Marshall Medical Center for the term September 30, 2005 through September 29, 2008, to facilitate the County's requirement to develop and process subcontracts with the other AHRQ grant-funded participants in the project.  The agreement specified three annual payments from Marshall Medical Center to the County for a total of $1,491,986.

At this time, AHRQ has awarded an extension to the term of the health information technology grant through September 30, 2009.  Amendment I to the Agreement with Marshall Medical Center extends the term to December 31, 2009, which allows a standard 90-day financial reconciliation and reporting period to grantor.

Reason for Recommendation:  Extension of the AHRQ grant allows the County to continue acting as fiscal agent for the AHRQ grant through Marshall Medical Center.

Action to be taken following Board approval:
o      Chairman to sign three original Amendment I to Agreement 780-PHD0608.
o      Board Clerk to return two (2) original Amendments I to Public Health Department.
o      Public Health Department to process and distribute as appropriate.
