Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: $4,500 for an additional year of licensing, upgrades, and telephone support for trauma registry software program. There is no net County cost.

Background: In 1997, the County's Emergency Medical Services Agency (EMSA) received a grant from the State Office of Emergency Services that enables the EMS Agency to analyze important data related to trauma patients who are transported to local hospitals, and to compare our statistics to those of other Counties. The software program that makes this possible is installed at Marshall, Barton, and at the EMS Agency in Placerville, and it helps the Department improve upon the services it offers to County residents.

Reason for Recommendation: With the recent changes made to EMSA (e.g., contracting out ambulance billing services to Wittman Enterprises), the Department was unsure that it needed to continue its contract with Digital Innovation, Inc. for another year. However, staff concluded that the County still had the responsibility to track patient trauma-related data and that it was necessary to continue licensing, upgrades, and telephone support for this program as provided by Digital Innovation, Inc.
