Background: Alpine County borders El Dorado County and is identified as being within the Lake Tahoe medical market area.  For several years, El Dorado County's contracted Ambulance Provider for CSA 3 has also provided needed services to Alpine County from the South Lake Tahoe area.   Patients are transported mainly to Barton Memorial Hospital; they are billed directly by County's contracted Ambulance Billing vendor.  This agreement is replacing an older agreement for services to Alpine, which expires December 31, 2007.  The CSA 3 Contractor, Cal Tahoe, is in concurrence with this agreement.

Since El Dorado County is providing these services to Alpine County through its CSA 3 ambulance provider, Public Health is requesting the Chairman to sign before Alpine County.

Action to be taken following Board approval: Chairman to sign three (3) copies of the attached MOU with Alpine County; Board Clerk to return three (3) signed copies to Public Health; Public Health to forward three (3) copies to Alpine County for signature by its Board of Supervisors; Public Health to return one copy of fully executed MOU to Board Clerk's upon receipt from Alpine County.
