Background
In April 2012, Environmental Management (EM) upgraded its propriety software application from Envision to Envision Connect. The Envision Connect software is a data management system used to manage all regulatory programs and processes in a single, consolidated database. The database allows EM to manage compliance tracking, logging violations, tracking inspections and results, and documenting compliance efforts for all program areas such as food programs and protection, recreational health, water systems, septic systems, hazardous materials, solid waste and vector control. Some of this data is required to be shared with the State of California and data exchange protocols permit the data to be transmitted electronically.
The Press Agent, recently developed by Decade Software for Envision Connect, is used for publishing restaurant inspections and violations from the Envision Connect Management System. This will allow the public to search and view inspection reports, view permits, and violations on-line. Although copies of inspection reports can be obtained at the Environmental Management office, on-line access will reduce staff time required to obtain the reports from the database.
