Body

On Tuesday June 28, 2016, the Trailhead fire ignited on the border of El Dorado County and Placer County near the Middle Fork of the American River and West of the community of Volcanoville. County fire and public safety personnel quickly provided response, which was later supplemented through state involvement. In response to the fire, numerous firefighters, Sheriff’s Deputies and personnel, animal services officers, Public Health Emergency Preparedness staff, and other County staff and volunteers assisted the community. These dedicated staff members helped ensure that residents and animals remained safe, property damage was reduced, and the threat of the Trailhead Fire was mitigated.

Additionally Mr. Tim Sauer and Mrs. Danielle Slater of Saureel Vineyards, who opened their private ranch to large animals impacted by the fire, deserve appreciation for their commendable actions in helping their fellow community members in a time of need. The South County Large Animal Rescue Organization also donated time and resources to those in need with animals, which the County greatly thanks for such efforts.  Lastly, the Black Oak Mine Unified School District graciously offered their campuses to assist fire-fighting and support personnel as well as to allow a venue for the community to receive updates on the fire.

El Dorado County would like to honor and extend heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated service of all involved County staff, emergency responders, volunteers, and other community members for their efforts in assisting the community during the Trailhead Fire event. During this emergency event, the strength in our communities was proven, demonstrating the best that we have and the potential we can create.
