DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION
Community Development Agency, Transportation Division, is recommending Board approval of the proposed Resolution for the safety of the participants, volunteers, and spectators of this community Event. No involved agencies objected to this closure.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
Founded in 1849, Georgetown was nicknamed “Growlersburg” due to the heavy, gold-laden quartz rocks that “growled” in the miners’ pants pockets as they walked around town. Georgetown was named for George Washington and the “Georgetown Divide Founder’s Day Event” is a community pride celebration with a parade, music, and food and craft booths. This Event is being sponsored by the Georgetown Divide Rotary Club.

ALTERNATIVES
If the Board does not approve the road closure, the Event would not take place at this time or location. If the Sponsor wants to proceed with the Event, other options would need to be explored.
