DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION
Community Development Agency, Transportation Division, is recommending Board approval of proposed Resolution 158-2016 to provide for the safety of event attendees and the general public, and for the success of this community event. No involved agencies objected to these closures.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The Oak Ridge High School (ORHS) Homecoming Parade is an annual event sponsored by the ORHS Associated Student Body. The Parade has been held annually for the past 16 years and participants include the ORHS students, staff, sports teams, extracurricular programs, and community affiliates, local businesses and groups such as the El Dorado Hills Fire Department (EDHFD), California Highway Patrol (CHP), and County Sheriff's Department.

The Parade starts and ends at the High School. Participants will proceed up Clermont Way to Brisbane Circle, around the circle, returning to the High School along Clermont Way. The Parade route is shown on Attachment B. Traffic on the intersecting roadways will be held as the Parade passes, but will be allowed to proceed once the Parade has passed. Requested road closures are for the safety of the Parade participants, children, volunteers, and spectators along the course.

ALTERNATIVES
If the Board does not approve of the road closures, the event would not take place at this time or location. If the Sponsor wants to proceed with this event, other options would need to be explored.
