Body

DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION

Chief Administrative Office, Facilities Division, recommending the Board authorize the Purchasing Agent to sign Amendment I to Agreement for Services No. 570-S1410 with Carnahan Electric, LTD to provide on-call electrical maintenance and repair at various County operated facilities increasing compensation by $30,000 for an amended not to exceed amount of $90,000.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

The Contractor has been engaged by the County to provide on-call and emergency electrical maintenance augmentation and repair services at various County-operated facilities.  Services typically include maintenance, repair, replacement, installation and connection for any electrical wires, fixtures, appliances, apparatuses, raceways and conduits to assist the County in keeping locations operational.

Carnahan Electric, LTD is primarily utilized in urgent or emergency situations when staff is unavailable or do not have the specific skill set.  The County has experienced an increase in unforeseen emergencies over the past months and with a majority of the County's mechanical/electrical systems and infrastructure exceeding their useful life additional compensation is needed so that the Division may continue to provide adequate safety, security and working conditions in all County operated facilities.

This Amendment increases compensation by $30,000, for an amended not-to-exceed of $90,000 and there are no changes to the term (agreement expiration is June 6, 2017).

ALTERNATIVES

The current agreement is projected to run out of compensation prior to its expiration and will leave the Division without an on-call electrical contractor.
