Body
DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION
The Sheriff's Office recommends the Board approve this Amendment I to Agreement # 249-S1511. National Medical Services, Inc., provides critical forensic and toxicology services that are paramount to verifying the cause of death in Coroner cases.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
National Medical Services Inc. has been providing selected forensic analyses and toxicology services for the El Dorado County Sheriff, Coroner's Division since 2002.

This Amendment will increase the not to exceed amount to $135,000 to cover the invoices through the end of the term of the Agreement. The forensic and toxicology services that are provided in this contract vary depending on Coroner caseloads. During this contract term, we experienced a 17% increase in forensic cases compared to the prior contract term, resulting in the need to increase the contract’s maximum compensation.

The Board's approval is contingent upon final approval by Risk Management of the vendor's insurance certificates. The vendor has been in compliance with the insurance provisions of the agreement; however, at the time of submittal of this staff report, one endorsement on the policy had not been received; as a result, Risk Management had not yet fully approved the agreement pending its receipt of that endorsement.
