DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION

Community Development Agency, Transportation Division, is recommending Board approval of full road closures in the Apple Hill area of Camino, for Larsen Drive between North Canyon Road and Cable Road; for Larson Drive between North Canyon Road and Carson Road; for Cable Road (Northbound) between Larsen Drive and Carson Road; and for 2nd Street (Eastbound) between Larsen Drive and Cable Road, to provide for the safety of participants, volunteers, and spectators along the "Apple Hill Harvest Run (Harvest Run)" course, and to assist in the success of this community event. 

 

Other involved agencies have made no objections to this road closure.

 

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

The 37th Annual Harvest Run event is sponsored by the Camino School Parents' Club and the Apple Hill Growers' Association.  The Harvest Run will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2016, between the hours of 8:20 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.   This year's event will start and finish at the Larsen Apple Barn on Larsen Drive.  This is a 3.5 mile route and participants can choose to make a second loop for a total of 7 miles.

 

ALTERNATIVES

If the Board does not approve of the road closures, the event would not take place at this time or location.  If the Sponser wants to proceed, other options would need to be explored.

The requested Board item has no Fiscal Impact or Net County Cost.

1) The Clerk of the Board will obtain the Chair's signature on the Resolution.

2) The Clerk of the Board will send one (1) fully executed copy of the Resolution to the Community Development Agency, Transportation Division, Andrew Gaber.
