DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION

Community Development Agency, Transportation Division, recommending Board approval of the road closures to provide for the safety of participants, volunteers, and spectators along the course, and to assist in the success of this community event.  Other involved agencies have made no objections to these closures.

 

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

The 2016 Cameron Park annual "Santa Run" event is being sponsored by the Cameron Park Community Services District (Sponsor) and will occur on Saturday, December 3, 2016, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.  This is a 5K charity fun run which starts and finishes at the Community Services District office, located at 2502 Country Club Drive, Cameron Park.  The Sponsor has requested road closures for Country Club Drive between Bass Lake Road and Knollwood Drive; for Merrychase Drive between Greenwood Lane and Country Club Drive; for Knollwood Drive between Country Club Drive and Greenwood Lane; and for Greenwood Lane between Knollwood Drive and Merrychase Drive, in Cameron Park.  Signs will be posted one week prior to the event informing the traveling public of the date and time of the road closures.

 

ALTERNATIVES

If the Board does not approve the road closures, the event would not take place at this time or location.  If the Sponsor wants to proceed with this event, other options would need to be explored.

Approve the Department's recommendation.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

There is no Fiscal Impact or change to Net County Cost associated with this item.

 

CLERK OF THE BOARD FOLLOW UP ACTIONS

1) The Clerk of the Board will obtain the Chair's signature on the Resolution.

2) The Clerk of the Board will send one (1) fully executed copy of the Resolution to the Community Development Agency, Transportation Division, Andrew Gaber.
