Body
DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION
Human Resources, Risk Management Division, is seeking Board authority to make payment to York Risk Services Group, Inc. (hereinafter York) for two outstanding payments in the total amount of $2,167.73 arising out of two workers’ compensation claims investigations.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
This item pertains to two separate workers’ compensation claims investigations authorized under contract #264-S1411 with York, which requires “prior written authorization” whenever an investigation is performed. On 1/11/16 verbal authorization was given to York for investigative services, but prior written authorization was not provided as required by the contract terms, which resulted in a charge of $1,317.35. On 2/23/16 verbal authorization was given for investigative services, without prior written authorization pursuant to the requirements of the contract, which resulted in a charge of $850.38. In these two instances written authorization was inadvertently not provided to York as required by the contract terms. As a result, we are seeking Board authority to make payments in the amount of $2,167.73, to York, for services that were in fact performed as a necessary part of their Workers’ Compensation services. The current contract with York will cover these costs.
