Body

DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION

A signed resolution is required in order for the District Attorney to sign the Standard Agreement with the California Victim Compensation Board. Approval of this recommendation will allow the District Attorney's Office to continue participating in a coordinated effort to provide emergency based financial assistance to victims.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

By administrating the revolving fund pursuant to the Standard Agreement and Certification, El Dorado County is able to participate in a coordinated effort with the California Victim Compensation Board (CalVCB) to provide financial assistance on an emergency basis to victims.

This program allows for victims to receive financial assistance for certain qualifying expenses related to a crime, including funeral/burial, relocation, crime scene clean-up and other verified emergency expenses.

El Dorado County uses the revolving fund to pay approved emergency expenses and then submits a reimbursement request to CalVCB to replenish the fund.

The El Dorado County Victim Witness Program has participated in the Funeral Burial/Domestic Violence Revolving Fund since FY 00/01.
