DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The 2016-2017 Grand Jury published several individual Final Reports on various subjects during months of May and June, and the Board of Supervisors received the consolidated Final Report on June 23, 2017. Under the California Penal Code, sections 933 et. sec., the Board of Supervisors must provide a response to the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court within 90 days of the date that a Final Report is made available to the public. The attached draft responses have been prepared in the form prescribed by Penal Code section 933.05 and address the findings and recommendations of the Grand Jury which are under the jurisdiction of the Board of Supervisors.
The first individual Final Reports regarding inspections of the Placerville and South Lake Tahoe Jails were made public on May 9, 2017. The Initial Draft Responses to those reports were approved by the Board of Supervisors on July 25, 2017, with Final Responses approved...
