Library Director recommending the Board approve continuation of perpetual agreement (345-S1611) with CALIFA for Fiscal Year 2017-18 in the amount of $61,000 for ongoing high speed broadband internet service for the County Library system.
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The Library Department manages a perpetual agreement (345-S1611) with CALIFA for ongoing high speed broadband internet service. CALIFA is a nonprofit library membership consortium of more than 220 libraries that brokers and facilitates the procurement of library products.
The Department is bringing this matter before the Board pursuant to BOS Policy C-17 Section 4.5 which states "Departments must obtain authorization from the Board of Supervisors, initially and on an annual basis, to utilize any contract that does not have a stated term."
The agreement is listed on Attachment "A".

FINANCIAL IMPACT
The cost of the agreement for FY 2017-2018 is $61,000.
This amount is included in the Department's Budget for FY 2017-2018.
CLERK OF THE BOARD FOLLOW UP ACTIONS
1) The Library will notify Procurement and Contracts of the Board's approval of the perpetual agreement, authorizing the Purchasing Agent to encumber funds for FY 2017-2018 payments under this agreement; and
2) The Library will continue to administer the contract and process payments upon receipt and approval of invoices.
