DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

These vehicles were approved for purchase in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2017/18 Adopted Budget to be used for the Probation Department.

Per the requirements of Section 3.12.160 D of the Purchasing Ordinance, Procurement and Contracts performed a comparative market analysis of dealer pricing against State Contract #1-15-23-14B (attachment "B") pricing for the acquisition of enforcement vehicles that meet the needs of El Dorado County.  Pricing was requested from four Ford dealerships who had previously responded to County vehicle bids. Two responses were received, and there are no local Ford dealerships (attachment “D”).

ALTERNATIVES

Issue a bid that duplicates the State of California bid in order to obtain alternative pricing solely for the County of El Dorado.
