Background
On September 19, 2012, California Governor Jerry Brown signed into law Senate Bill 1186, a bill aimed at helping businesses comply with Americans with Disabilities Act requirements without facing the threat of lawsuits. The bill intends to curb predatory ADA lawsuits, in particular against small businesses in the state.This bill requires, (mandates) after January 1, 2013,  an additional state fee of $1 on  local business licenses.
 
Reason for Recommendation
This resolution allows the funds to be deposited into a special fund.
 
Action(s) to be taken following Board approval
Forward a copy of the signed resolution to the Treasurer and Tax Collector's Office for implementation.
