Caltrans requires local jurisdictions to recognize the traffic impediments that can occur in the operation of special events that utilize state routes and highways.  In this case, the Sheriff's Department, California Highway Patrol, and the South Lake Tahoe Police Department participate in traffic control and supervision, and work directly with event coordinators to minimize impediments.
