Information Technologies Department recommending the Board approve the change to Board Policies to repeal and replace Board Policy A-17 - Data Center and Network Systems Physical Security.
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The Information Technologies (IT) Department has reviewed the above Board policy in support of the Good Governance Strategic Plan and is recommending changes. The last update to Policy A-17 Data Center and Network Systems Physical Security was in 2005. The revisions include best practicies to maintain the best physical security for the data center and to ensure data is protected in accordance with Code of Federal Regulations 45, Section 164.310 entitled Physical Safeguards. Revisions include updated language to meet National Instititute of Standards and Technology (NIST) publications 800-53 rev. 4, which are standards by which outside auditing firms hold the County accountable.
