Body

DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION

Treasurer-Tax Collector recommends the board approve, in concept, amendments to Title 5 - County Business License Ordinance of the El Dorado County Ordinance Code, General Provisions.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

Title 5, known as the County Business License Ordinance, was enacted for the purpose of regulating businesses carried out within the unincorporated area of the county.  Since the time the Ordinance was adopted, a number of changes have occurred in office technology, office processes, and county department/agency names.  The changes to the Ordinance recommended address these issues while streamlining the business license process for applicants.

The proposed update also removes references to carbon copy forms and requires e-mail addresses and websites.  These revisions will increase efficiency in processing applications and in communicating with business owners.   Further updates include correction to the Auditor/Controller’s official title and the new name of the Community Services Agency, Building and Planning Services Department.
