Clerk of the Board of Supervisors recommending the Board approve funding for the District I and District II Supervisors-elect to attend the New Supervisors Institute at the California State Association of Counties Annual Conference to be held December 4, 2008 and December 5, 2008.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve.

Background: County Code 2.03.150 allows county general fund monies to be used upon request of the supervisor-elect for training and orientation; including, the payment of course fees, course materials, travel and per diem expenses.
Due to timing of the election and certification of the vote, it would be appropriate to anticipate participation by the newly elected supervisors of District I and District II at the annual CSAC conference and to provide funding for his attendance at this event. Therefore, for purposes of this Code, the attendee for this conference will be determined by the Registrar of Voters by certified count or will be the recipient of the highest vote, providing the count has been completed.
Due to the current state of the budget, it is recommended that the Supervisors-elect attend only the New Supervisors Institute reducing the department's expenses by $2,150.
