Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: The funding source for these services is in each requesting Department's budget (General and Non-General Fund).
 
Reason for Recommendation:  On March 4, 2007, the Purchasing Agent approved Agreement
#599-S0710 with Dave's Rent-A-Car, Inc. to provide rental cars on an "as requested" basis for departments County-wide in an amount not to exceed $50,000.00.  
 
In specific instances where an appropriate Fleet vehicle is not available to meet a Department's specialized need, it becomes necessary to rent vehicles.  The greatest necessity for this use is due to the Sheriff Department's need to rent vehicles for use in undercover operations.  Other County departments occasionally must rent vehicles to transport clients or for other incidental activities.  It is more practical and cost efficient for the County to rent vehicles in these circumstances than to buy several Fleet vehicles for such specialized use.  Your Board is being asked to find that it is more economical and feasible to obtain an outside contractor to provide rental cars on an "as needed" basis County wide.  
 
The Procurement and Contracts Division has processed Amendment I to said Agreement, increasing compensation by an additional $50,000.00 for a total amount not to exceed  $100,000, and extending the term for one (1) additional year to cover the period of March 4, 2007 through March 3, 2010.  
 
The County Officer or employee with responsibility for administering the Agreement is Bonnie H. Rich, Purchasing Agent, or successor.
 
Action to be taken following Board approval:  Following Board approval, the County Clerk's Office will forward one (1) executed amendment to the Procurement and Contracts Division for distribution, administration and encumbrance as needed.
