Human Resources Department, Risk Management Division, recommending Chairman be authorized to sign Amendment l to Agreement for Services 526-S0811 with the Law Offices of Hanna, Brophy, MacLean, McAleer & Jensen in an amount not to exceed $40,000 for a two year term to provide defense representation of industrial disability retirement applications on an "as requested" basis for said Division.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve.

Reason for Recommendation: This firm represents the County in evaluation, litigation, appeal hearings, and settlement negotiation arising from an employee's application for industrial disability retirement. The current contract covers payment to the attorney, inside copying fees and travel, but does not include other fees and expenses incurred during investigation and litigation. The "not to exceed" amount of this contract will not increase due to the attached amendment.
