Title
Chief Administrative Office, Procurement and Contracts Division, recommending the Board declare weapons as surplus and approve the transfer of same duty weapons to retiring Sheriff's Office employees.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:  Approve.

Body

Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:  The Sheriff's Office Armory will receive the funds paid by the retired employees.

Reason for Recommendation: Captain Altmeyer and Deputy Koring recently retired from the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office and desire to purchase their service weapons .  Since these are not the current weapon issued by the Sheriff's Office, Sheriff Department policy allows that the employee purchase the weapon for fair market value.   Appraisals from Big Horn  Gunshop have been received and are attached for your review.

The weapons requested to be declared as surplus are:

Smith & Wesson .40 Handgun; Serial #TYF8832; County Tag #99513; Fair Market Value $200.00
Sig Sauer P229 .40 Handgun; Serial #AH14594; County Tag #99675; Fair Market Value $350.00
Smith & Wesson 4013 .40 Handgun; Serial #VYY7798; Tag #99611; Fair Market Value $200.00

Action to be taken following Board approval:  Upon approval of the recommendation, the Procurement and Contracts Division will process the necessary surplus property transfer request, and the Sheriff's Office shall execute a sale of the duty weapons through Big Horn Gunshop.
