Body

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

At their meeting of March 23, 2018, El Dorado County Department Heads determined that one means of supporting county-wide elections is to require Department Heads and Unrepresented Management employees to work at least one day during each election cycle.  A memo from the Chief Administrative Officer to all members of the Board dated March 28, 2018 (Attachment C) provides additional information.

The Elections Department has confirmed that they have sufficient resources in this regard for the June 5, 2018 election.

ALTERNATIVES

The Board may choose not to adopt the Resolution and direct staff to take other action.

CAO RECOMMENDATION / COMMENTS

It is recommended that the Board approve this item.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

There is no direct financial impact to adopting the Resolution.  It is anticipated there will be some salary savings due to a decrease in the number of extra help staff normally hired by the Elections Department to support the county-wide election.

CLERK OF THE BOARD FOLLOW UP ACTIONS

The Clerk will obtain the Chair's signature on the Resolution, upload the executed version to the agenda item, publish the revised calendar to the Board's main webpage, and notify all departments of the modified calendar.
