Body

DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION

The District Attorney's Office recommends the board approve the extension of the agreement so work on the project may be completed.  Staff is currently testing the Victim Witness application and it is anticipated the final deliverable, which includes user feedback, modifications and quality control, will be completed on or before August 14, 2018.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

In Fiscal Year 2016/17, the District Attorney received grant funding from the California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) Victim/Witness Assistance Program Fund to build a Victim Witness application for an existing software program.  Cal OES approved funding to pay contract expenses up to $650/day through the September 30, 2017 grant deadline.  Seventy-five percent of the Victim Witness Module was completed and invoiced by the grant deadline of September 30, 2017.

The FY 2017/18 Addenda budget included a request to utilize Department of Justice Asset Forfeiture Funds for the remainder of this project.  The Department of Justice Asset Forfeiture funding for this project also serves as the local cash match for the FY 2017/18 Cal OES Victim/Witness Assistance Program Grant.  The total amount of the project is not to exceed $72,000.
