Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: There is no net county cost.

Background:
Agreement 03A1207 between the Environmental Management Department and the Department of Transportation (CALTRANS) was entered into July 1, 2006 with a termination date of June 30, 2009. This agreement reimburses the County for actual time spent conducting solid waste and litter abatement on State Highways. CALTRANS is unable to have a new contract approved and in place by the termination date of June 30, 2009. Therefore, CALTRANS has written an Amendment to extend the term of the current contract and increase the not to exceed amount until the new contract is approved by September 30, 2009.

Reason for Recommendation:
The Environmental Management Department (EMD) requests approval to extend Agreement 03A1207 with CALTRANS allowing EMD staff to perform solid waste and litter abatement along the shoulders of Highways 49 and 193, and in the median of Highway 50 from El Dorado Hills Blvd. east to Missouri Flat Road thru September 30, 2009.
