DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND:

On December 13, 2018, the Veterans Affairs Commission approved the attached updated Bylaws to align them with current County ordinance code sections 2.20.510 through 2.20.570.  In addition to updating the ordinance code section numbers to reflect changes from a comprehensive County Code update done in 2014, the ByLaws were simplified and modified to reflect an updated list of standing committees, including the addition of the Social Media Committee and the Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) Committee and the deletion of the Real Property Committee.  The last time the Veteran Affairs Commission Bylaws were changed was in 1998.

On January 15, 2019, the Board approved Final Passage of Ordinance 5098 to repeal and replace Ordinance 4188 which established the Commission in November of 1991.  Ordinance 5098 served to update the code to reflect the exclusion of references to the National Guard which ceased opertating a unit in the County in November 2014, as well as to make minor typograhpical and grammatical modifications.
