DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
On March 21, 2016 the Board adopted their current Strategic Plan, of which Good Governance was identified as one of the 5 Strategic Goals for the County. Objective 2.3 of Good Governance directs staff to evaluate and improve where feasible the best practices for the administration of the Board's appointed boards, committees, and commissions.
On December 5, 2017, the Board adopted their Governance Handbook and nine Protocols for governance of specific areas or topics of interest to the Board. One of the Protocols relates to the Board's Role with Advisory Boards which further reflects the Board's commitment to ensuring the best possible processes and resources are in place to benefit the citizen volunteers who serve as members of advisory boards, committees and commissions.
Good Governance Objective 2.3 is an ongoing component of the Strategic Plan. Staff provides this update to the Board to share and celebrate significant improvements and available resources as outlined in the presentation (Attachment A).
