DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

Over the past 9 - 12 months, the Superintendent of Schools and Office of Education, with the assistance of Bellwether Education, have led a collaborative effort to identify ways to improve outcomes for at-risk youth in El Dorado County.  Paticipants in these discussions include staff from the Office of Education, Probation, Health and Human Services, the Superior Court, several non-profits who provide services to El Dorado County youth.

As a result of those efforts, the team of professionals have identified a concept that we believe could improve outcomes for at risk youth, but in order to move forward it will require a commitment and support from the Board of Supervisors.

ALTERNATIVES

Upon hearing the presentation, the Board could determine that other priorities outweigh the benefits of this concept and choose not to include this concept in the County's Strategic Plan.
