Title

Supervisor Frentzen recommending the Board:

1) Honor Purple Heart Veterans and recognize El Dorado County as a Purple Heart County; and

2) Approve and authorize the Chair to sign a Proclamation.  (Est. Time: 10 Min.)

Body

We appreciate Purple Heart Veterans for the sacrifices they made defending our freedoms.  The Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH), Chapter 385 has selected El Dorado County as a Purple Heart County for its ongoing appreciation and support for veterans.

Chartered by Congress for combat wounded veterans.  The Purple Heart is composed of military men and women who received the Purple Heart Medal for wounds suffered in combat or by an act of international terrorism.  Although their membership is restricted to the combat wounded, they support all veterans and their families with a myriad of nation-wide programs by Chapters and National Service Officers.

The mission of the Purple Heart is to foster an environment of goodwill and camaraderie among combat wounded veterans, promote patriotism, support necessary legislative initiative and most importantly, provide service to all veterans and their families.
