Title
Health Services Department recommending Chairman be authorized to sign Amendment I to perpetual Agreement 538-PHD0706 with Marshall Medical Center to provide laboratory testing services on an "as requested" basis performed by the Public Health Laboratory.

FUNDING: Revenues from fees for lab services.
Body
Agreement 538-PHD0706 specifies laboratory tests and associated costs thereto available to Marshall Medical Center via the Public Health Laboratory.  At this time Marshall Medical Center has a need for, and the Public Health Laboratory has the capacity to provide, Quantiferon Gold In tube (QTFG) testing for tuberculosis.   This Amendment I incorporates QTFG in the list of tests available to Marshall Medical Center.

Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:  None.  This incoming funding is on a fee for service basis.

Background:   Agreement 538-PHD0706 between Marshall Medical Center and the County was executed August 22, 2006, and established the relationship whereby Marshall Medical Center may submit specific specimens to the Public Health Laboratory for testing.   Over the course of the past year testing for tuberculosis has advanced to include the QTFG test, and the Public Health Laboratory is now able to offer this test.   Marshall Medical Center wishes to submit specimens for this test to the County.

Reason for Recommendation:    Approval of this Amendment I to Agreement 538-PHD0706 will provide Marshall Medical Center with local access to the QTFG test.

Action to be taken following Board approval:
1.      Chairman to sign three (3) original Amendments I to Agreement 538-PHD0706.
2.   Board Clerk's Office to return two (2) fully executed Amendments I to the Health Services Department - Public Health Division.
3.   Department to distribute documents as appropriate.
