DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION
On April 30, 2019 (18-1754 Item #39) the Board authorized the use of standard rolling stock on the section of track from Milepost (MP) 142 to MP 144.8 (El Dorado Road to Missouri Flat Road) in compliance with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) requirements. At that meeting the Board approved a similar repair of tracks at Rustling Pines Road in Shingle Springs to meet FRA and CPUC compliance requirements. In order to meet FRA and CPUC compliance requirements for the section of track from MP 142 to MP 144.8, this requires the replacement of rotting railroad ties on this stretch of track. The total distance is approximately 2.2 miles and a track crew with necessary equipment will work for four days to replace the ties and perform various railroad track maintenance tasks. H & H Engineering Construction, Inc. -Railroad Builder- has submitted a quote to perform this work, to be completed in this fiscal year. The Park and Recreation Department is receiving regular updates and communication on the progress of this project.
