DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

At the request of the Department of Transportation, the Chief Administrative Office, Procurement and Contracts Division issued an Invitation to Bid for the purchase of Waterborne Traffic Line Paint. Road marking paint material is necessary for striping and marking County roadways in accordance with State and Federal traffic regulations. Sixty-seven (67) invitations to bid were mailed, six (6) responses were received, none from local vendors.

Without this product roadways would not be properly marked, resulting in dangerous motoring and pedestrian conditions.

Approve as recommended.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

The Department of Transportation has sufficient funds in the adopted Fiscal Year 2020-21 budget for the recommended purchase. Typically, road marking paint material is funded by the Road Fund for routine road maintenance purposes. Occasionally, supplies are required for maintenance work funded by alternate sources, such as Tribe funds. Future year budget proposals will include funding from the appropriate sources for purchases under the remaining term of the blanket purchase order for Board consideration.
