DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
In accordance with Board Policy Number C-17, departments are required to obtain authorization from the Board of Supervisors to utilize any contract for services that exceeds $100,000. The Human Resources Department is requesting the Board approve Amendment I with Liebert Cassidy Whitmore to increase the total not-to-exceed by $100,000 for a total not-to-exceed amount of $400,000.
The Contractor will provide professional legal services on an as-requested basis for the purposes of providing legal advice in employment and labor relations matters and to provide training on various employment relations subjects. In monitoring current spending on the agreement and planning for the remainder of the agreement, it was determined that the contract would need to be amended before the agreement expires on June 30, 2021.
ALTERNATIVES
The Board could choose not to approve the agreement and Human Resources could find another vendor to provide professional legal services.
