DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

At the request of the Sheriff’s Office, the Procurement and Contracts Division issued an invitation to Bid #20-340-045 for the purchase of wildfire protective equipment, including: jackets, pants, and forest fire shelters for Sheriff’s Office staff.  Thirty-nine (39) Bid Notification Letters were mailed, five (5) to local vendors.  Three (3) qualified responses were received, none from local vendors.

 

ALTERNATIVES

If the Board does not approve the agenda item, the Sheriff’s Office will not be able to properly outfit staff against the growing risk of wildfires.

The Procurement and Contracts Division issued and completed the formal bid process.

It is recommended that the Board approve this item.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

The Sheriff’s Office has budgeted for this expense with the use of Rural Counties monies, therefore, there is no increase to Net County Cost.
