Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: The proposed Workers Compensation Insurance Fraud budget submitted was in the amount of $237,500. Per the Grant Award Agreement, the District Attorney's office was awarded $275,000. This amount will be a decrease to the department's net county cost for fiscal year 09/10.
Background: The District Attorney's office has had the Workers Compensation Insurance Fraud grant since 04/05. Since taking office in 2007, the District Attorney has increased the amount of funding substantially from prior years. The funding received supports the investigation and prosecution of those who commit workers compensation insurance fraud in El Dorado County.
Reason for Recommendation: Signed resolution is required in order for the District Attorney to sign the Grant Award Agreement with the Department of Insurance.
Action to be taken following Board approval: Certified copy of signed resolution to be forwarded to District Attorney's office. District Attorney will then sign the Grant Award Agreement and forward to Department of Insurance.
The District Attorney's office will submit the revised revenue and appropriations during the addenda process.
