DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG-S) Program - Supplemental assists states, territories, tribes and local governments with their public health and emergency management activities supporting the prevention of, preparation for, and response to the ongoing Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) public health emergency. Through this grant program, FEMA will award funding to support planning and operational readiness for COVID-19 preparedness and response; development of tools and strategies for prevention, preparedness, and response; and ongoing communication and coordination among federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial partners throughout the response.

El Dorado County has been awarded $89,643 for the FY 2020 grant which will be used for equipment, supplies and salaries relating to the Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services response to the COVID-19 pandemic during the performance period of January 27, 2020, through October 26, 2021.

Cal OES requires that a resolution (by title and not name) be on file from public agency governing bodies authorizing its agents to execute for and on behalf of that public agency applications for federal grant funds.

ALTERNATIVES
Failure to provide this resolution to the State would disallow the Sheriff's Office from accepting grant awards that are sub-granted through the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (CalOES).
