Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: Annual maintenance fees have been appropriated in current year budget. Future fees are subject to changes annually and will be budgeted accordingly.
Background: IT owns several Dell servers that host the County's entire technological infrastructure. The original purchase price of a Dell server includes a three year service contract for maintenance, however after the initial three year period, it is necessary to purchase extended maintenance and support for the existing equipment. As servers are purchased over the years and at different times, extended maintenance for each piece of equipment will need to be secured at the end of their included 3 year service contract.
Reason for Recommendation: IT is recommending approval of perpetual agreement #042-S1010 with Dell Marketing for the ongoing maintenance of all existing and future Dell servers owned by the County's Information Technologies department. This agreement will allow for the addition or removal of all Dell server equipment as needed and provide seamless, uninterrupted maintenance for the County's critical infrastructure equipment. IT will continue to work with the vendor to secure the best possible pricing from year to year by utilizing the WSCA pricing agreement when applicable.
