Sheriff's Office recommending the Board:
1) Approve and authorize Chair to sign Contract Amendment for Contract 2402 with Michael C. Berry, M.D., to provide selected pathology and related services in Placerville and South Lake Tahoe for the Sheriff's Coroner Division for an extended term end date from July 31, 2021 to July 30, 2025 increasing the not to exceed amount to $1,385,000; and
2) Authorize the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute further documents relating to Contract 2402, including future amendments which do not increase the maximum dollar amount or term of the Contract, and contingent upon approval by County Counsel and Risk Management.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
Dr. Michael C. Berry has been providing pathology services to the Sheriff's Office since September 2010. Dr. Berry's rates, in comparison to other providers of similar services, are the most cost effective in the surrounding market. This is important since, the Sheriff's Office has historically had a high volume of pathology service needs, and Dr. Berry has been an affordable and efficient provider.
On April 3, 2018, the Board approved Contract 2042 in order to account for Dr. Berry’s fees increasing. The Sheriff’s Office and Dr. Berry have agreed that it would be beneficial for both parties to extend the current agreement and hold pricing as agreed upon for an additional two (2) years with the possibility for a price increase of up to 5% for the remaining two (2) years of the agreement. Based on current prices it is not necessary to increase funding associated with this contract at this time. Currently, the Sheriff's Office averages roughly $16,000 in payments to Dr. Berry per month. However, with the addition of the Sheriff's Office providing pathology services to Amador County additional funding will be needed.
