DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The proposed Funding Agreement contemplates a one-time $55,000 contribution (Contribution) by the County to the Water Agency to be utilized through the Water Agency’s existing Cost Share Grant Program (Program) to assist with funding for an eligible project or projects in order to achieve a water savings of at least 9 acre feet of water per year. The potential projects may include, but are not limited to, updates to and modernization of existing irrigation systems to bring them into conformity with the 2015 Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance (MWELO) which is an implementing regulation for the Water Conservation in Landscaping Act, Government Code §§ 65591-99, and/or repair or replacement of indoor or outdoor water systems that are outdated or in need of repair. The project(s) will increase water conservation in El Dorado County and will further the goal of ensuring that El Dorado County has adequate water now and in the future.

The Water Agency and the County intend that the Contribution be solely a one-time cash contribution to support the ongoing Program and that the Water Agency will remain solely responsible for managing the Program.
